Red Hawk Golf Club, located 5 miles from East Tawas, is a premium Arthur Hills design that has won much acclaim, including Best Course and Best Course in Michigan from Great Lakes Golfer Magazine in their 2003 Player’s Choice awards for the Great Lakes region.
Red Hawk was also rated as the 4th Best Public Course in Michigan in 2003 by Golf Digest, and Golf Magazine for Women rated the property as a Top 100 course for women in 2001.
An over-riding characteristic at Red Hawk are the abundant landing areas near the greens that give golfers a chance to recover from offline approaches.
Even though the length from the championship tees may appear short at 6,589 yards, it’s a par 71 layout providing plenty of challenge to the low handicap golfer.
The terrain is surprisingly rolling for the area, with frequent elevated tees and greens, plus grass ravines and natural areas. While all the fairways are defined by mature forest, there is generally ample room off the tee, making Red Hawk enjoyable for all levels of golfers.
